Master of Christian Counseling (MCC)

The accelerated 1½-year program is structured for ministers, church workers, and professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in counseling while balancing ministry and personal commitments.

Program Overview

The Master of Christian Counseling (MCC) is a graduate-level program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in biblical, theological, and psychological foundations of counseling. This program emphasizes a Christ-centered approach to counseling, integrating scripture, Christian ethics, and spiritual care with professional counseling practices. Students are prepared to serve effectively as counselors, pastors, church leaders, and educators in diverse ministry and community contexts.


Program Purpose

By the end of the MCC program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a sound theological and biblical foundation for Christian counseling.
  • Apply counseling theories and methods in pastoral, family, and community settings.
  • Integrate faith and psychology in addressing emotional, relational, and spiritual issues.
  • Develop effective counseling skills for marriage, family, crisis intervention, and addiction recovery.
  • Conduct independent research and produce a scholarly dissertation relevant to Christian counseling.


Program Structure

The MCC program is divided into three semesters. Students will take core courses, electives, practical counseling labs, and research seminars. A final dissertation is required.

• Total Credit Hours: 36–42

• Course Load per Semester: 6–7 courses (approx. 12–14 credit hours)

Dissertation Requirement


The dissertation is a major requirement of the MCC program, designed to demonstrate a student’s ability to conduct original research in Christian counseling and integrate theory with practice.


Requirements:

• Credit Hours: 6 (part of total credits)

• Length: 20,000 – 30,000 words (depending on institutional guidelines)

• Format: APA 7th edition (or school’s academic style manual)

• Supervision: Each student is assigned a faculty supervisor for guidance.

• Stages:

1. Proposal Submission & Approval (Topic, Objectives, Methodology)

2. Research & Data Collection (Biblical, theological, empirical, or qualitative/quantitative research)

3. Writing & Draft Submission

4. Defense (Viva Voce) – Oral presentation before faculty panel

5. Final Submission – Bound hard copy + digital copy to library/archives
